Weekend W.I.P.lash - No. 5

Summer is here, and the race to make all the tees, tanks, and dresses has finally come. One of the things that we love about being Makers, is the ability to use the season and nature to inspire your mood and next creation. Seasonal summer fruits have some of us making fantastic, fresh galettes (we're looking at you Cathy!), while others have popped into the Flagship and inspired new sewing projects. The cyclical nature of inspiration and creation in our community can't be beat, and we can't get enough of it. What's next on your summer make list?

mischievous makings

We are pulling back the curtain on the inspiring endeavors of our talented employees and creative customers. Each edition, we will spotlight two incredible projects, whether it's a knitted/crocheted masterpiece, a scrumptious baked creation, or some mindful mending. Let this section be your bi-weekly dose of inspiration, encouraging you to unleash your own inner creative genius!

MAGPIE: Samm

Current WIP: baking

“The warmer weather has me wanting to bake again, and macarons are my go-to comfort bake. I love the complex simplicity of a macaron, and the ability to tailor the flavor profile to what I’m in the mood for. I just have to hide them from my family so they don’t eat them all in one go!”

-Samm

Magpie: mandy

Current WIP: knitting

“I love looking at our one of a kinds, and as soon as I saw this color I knew it had to be mine! Everyone knows I love a good blue, and this cute summer top with that hint of texture really allows the color to shine. I’m close to being done, and can’t wait to wear it this summer! ”

- Mandy

Mandy is working on the Maven Top by Rachael Raimo. You can find the pattern here.

Every week, we scour the knitting universe for new releases, hidden gems and timeless classics, ensuring you have a queue overflowing with irresistible projects. Newbie or seasoned knitter? We've got something for everyone. So, ditch the decision fatigue and let us lure you into a world of yarn-filled wonder!

FIRST UP: phoebe top

by Aimee Sher

We love a designer that marries fashion with function, and this gorgeous tank can be any and everything you want it to be. There are two versions - a "straight" and a "curvy", offering you the optimal fit. And if you haven't been introduced to bust darts and the magic they offer, let this beauty be your introduction!
This cabled beauty would shine in Equinox Sport or Nest Sport. Equinox Sport would keep you cute and ready for all your summer outings, while Nest Sport would be the perfect layering piece for cooler temps.

NUMBER 2: salty air tee

by Samantha Guerin

The beautiful lace panel on this tee keeps you interested and invested in the "just one more row" mantra, helping this pattern to fly off your needles. The drape and airiness makes this top a go-to on those hot days, keeping you looking like the stylish maker that you are! Equinox Sport would lend its shine and drape perfectly to this pattern, keeping you cool on even the hottest of days.

one more: SpringFling

by The Petite Knitter

We've been revamping and refreshing our kits this month, as well as adding new ones, and this stunner of a pattern was a new combo added to our lineup. Knit top down, the slow integration of color draws the eye and keep you engaged as you work your way through. Sleeve island? We don't know her!
We used Solo Fingering for this pattern - the beautiful single ply glows effortlessly with that ever-so-slightly there sheen of the Merino.

Magpie: wanitta

book: love in the big city by sang young park

“If you need a good cry, this book will get you there. I have a deep love for K-dramas and this book perfectly marries the highs and lows of trying to get through life, human reflection, drama, and queerness in a beautiful way.”

- Wanitta

We hope this gave you a few ideas for your weekend or inspired you to try something new!
