Weekend W.I.P.lash - No. 3

Summer is so close you can almost taste it, and with that, more and more lightweight projects have been on the brain lately! The drape, ease, and comfort of a good summer tank is something we makers love to achieve, because who doesn't love flaunting their makes when the sun is shining bright?

Double WIP Magic

We are pulling back the curtain on the inspiring endeavors of our talented employees and creative customers. Each edition, we will spotlight two incredible projects, whether it's a knitted/crocheted masterpiece, a scrumptious baked creation, or some mindful mending. Let this section be your bi-weekly dose of inspiration, encouraging you to unleash your own inner creative genius!

MAGPIE: holly

Current WIP: vacation vest

“When the weather starts to get warmer, I suddenly want to make all the summer things! There are so many good patterns out there, and this one has been on my list for awhile, so I’m going to try to finish it before I cast on another tank top….but I make no promises.”

- Holly

Current WIP: knitting

“I’ve been loving the way this intarsia is going. This is also my beav-a-long project, and sometimes I feel like I never have as much time as I want to knit, but this one has me motivated and I’m hoping to have done to wear this summer. Maybe end of summer…?”

- Samm

convincing cast ons

Every week, we scour the knitting universe for new releases, hidden gems and timeless classics, ensuring you have a queue overflowing with irresistible projects. Newbie or seasoned knitter? We've got something for everyone. So, ditch the decision fatigue and let us lure you into a world of yarn-filled wonder!

FIRST UP: Equinox vestank

by Shay Johnson

As makers, we love options. The more the better, and with this new pattern, the possibilities are endless! Stripes, no stripes, open front vest, buttons...you name it, this pattern gives you the power to make it so. This top was written for that peak summer heat, that "get off my skin, I'm melting" drape appeal of linen, and this is where our plant-based fiber absolutely shines.
Equinox Sport is the star for this tank, but Quartet Fingering is a great option as well! The structure of the merino holds its shape well, while also not adding weight or density for its wearer. Swanky Sock also has fantastic drape, and with almost 70 color options, you can never choose wrong!

NUMBER 2: staple linen tank

by Joji Locatelli

Can you sense our need for warmer weather with our inspiration this time around?
Joji is a master of creating wardrobe staples, and this tank top is no exception. With the breathability and lightness of linen, it's a piece you'll reach for repeatedly, and honestly, isn't that the goal and the dream as a maker? Equinox Sport and its silk and linen blend, is the perfect combination for those sweltering days.

NUMBER 3: arcade stitch top

by Karmen Režek

If this this crochet top and it's beautiful stitch pattern doesn't have to ready for a coastal brunch, I don't know what will. The box pleat addition to the back is the most adorable detail, and we love it! Can you imagine this in Equinox Sport in Mint Condition?! Someone make this, WE BEG.

Will you be adding any of these lovely linen tops to your queue? Let us know below!

Magpie: janet

tv show: the big door prize

“This show popped up on my recommended list, and I loved it! It was all about your potential and changing your path…it kind of reminds me of ‘The Midnight Library’, but way more goofy. It was ridiculous, hilarious, and a great show to put on and knit to.” - Janet

We hope this gave you a few ideas for your weekend or inspired you to try something new! Because, let’s be honest, as crafters we love doing a little bit of all the things 😌
